What Women Know About . . .children
You have to pinch yourself every day to remind yourself of this: your children don’t belong to you. They are a gift that you are given for a short, short time. They are on loan to you and very soon you’ll have to give them away to someone else . . . so make sure they still like you enough to call by every now and then.
Make your child’s lunch box more interesting – write them a little note – or even better write on the banana/fruit skin – they may have a better chance of eating the fruit. My mum used to do it for me.
Do try this at home – tell you children the facts about getting pregnant – get your daughters to understand how their cycle works and abolish the urban myths. Show your sons how to put on a condom (you can use a cucumber for a demonstration!) and tell them not to assume that the girl they chose to have sex with will take all the responsibility to prevent conception.
If you have suggestions or stories about raising children we would love to hear them. We have our facebook page up and running now and you can find it under - what women know
Thanks and remember the first 40 years of parenthood are the hardest
lots of love
