What women know about Time

Time seems to go quicker the older you get because each year that passes is proportionally a shorter part of your life than the last – my maths teacher explained to me that when I was ten one year was a tenth and when I reached twenty it would be a twentieth which is a significantly smaller portion. It made great sense to me and since then I haven’t batted an eyelid at the speedy passing of the years as they are all of exactly the same length as they were when I was a child – it’s just my perception that has changed.

How to make time?

Nobody knows better than a woman how to juggle the hours in the day – the key is to prioritise – it used to take me six months to write a novel when I was working full time – now that I am writing full time it still takes me six months – I just have filled the time that I used to spend working with other things!

After giving birth the thing that struck me the most was – what did I do with my time? If only I could have that time back I would appreciate every moment and do all of those courses and visit all of those places that I couldn’t do now that I had the responsibility and commitment of an offspring. Of course we need to experience the loss of time to appreciate how precious that is – also with that new realisation you need to relish the precious time you are given with a the wonder of a small baby – time moves fast for them too and before you know it they will be crawling and walking and running out the door!

What's your view on time - dont forget to post us your stories and opinions or email them to michellejackson@eircom.net
