In September 2009 we decided to make this unique collection of women's wisdom into a blog so that women everywhere could contribute. Women have important power, deep levels of knowledge and vital wisdom and we need to share this knowledge with the world. Trouble is, that we're so busy working, creating, nurturing, leading, healing and empowering others that we often forget to sit down and listen to ourselves!
Most of what we learn as humans is through story-telling. All the world religions and mythologies rely on stories to tell us what we need to know about life, humanity, morality, death, philosophy, ways of being. We learn about how to solve life's dilemmas from reading novels, watching movies, following soap-operas, listening to human interest stories on day-time-TV because seeing what happens to stories is a powerful way of figuring out what works and what doesn't.
Women are problem solvers. We listen. We learn. And we figure out what to do.
Women use other women – our mothers, sisters, daughters, girlfriends. We reach out to each other when we need help. We meet in groups, around water coolers, in book clubs, restaurants, beauty salons, board rooms, operating theatres, staff rooms – and we lean on one another every day for a source of wisdom and support.
Imagine having all the women in the world to lean on when you need advice! Imagine the fountain of wisdom you can tap into if you can "water-cooler-chat" with women from all over the world. . . . . imagine the fun you'd have if you could count on having your girlfriends with you all the time to solve your problems with you!
That's what this website is for. We want you to contribute your thoughts, dreams, aspirations, wisdom, knowledge, affirmations, beliefs, values, and your unique understanding of the world so that other women can lean on your and count on your knowledge and support. Tell us what you know. Tell your unique story to women everywhere. And What Women Know will become a part of your unique voice throughout the world
